Scarecrow Festival.

Today was the Scarecrow Festival and the start of the library's book sale.

I got up early (on a Saturday!) and we headed to the library first. Came out of there with two full boxes which included everybody's books, not just mine. I was pretty happy with what I found.

After we deposited the books in the van, we wandered around town. Checked out the marketplace where we saw some nice stuff but didn't buy anything, had hot dogs at the fire hall, voted for the best scarecrows, and stopped at a store that recently moved to a new, bigger location. Usually, we watch a band or two but there wasn't a posted list of performance times and nobody felt like hanging around when we didn't know who was playing or when.

Then we went home for a while.

K and I were sorting through the books when I mentioned that I needed to go to the bookstore in a neighbouring village to get tickets for an upcoming event. She was very enthusiastic about this idea and insisted that we go immediately. Since I had already been out and was, therefore, reasonably presentable, I decided it was a pretty good idea. So I talked it over with Ice and he suggested that we all go along and then go out for supper.

Which I thought was an even better idea.

When we got to the village, K and I went to the bookstore while everyone else went window shopping. I got my tickets plus the books of the authors who will be reading that night and K bought a book for herself, too. Because, you know, we have a real shortage of books around here.

We met up with everyone else, went for an early dinner (good food), then came home. It was a busy day but I really enjoyed it.
