Book reviews.

A couple of these were written in December but not posted here so I'm doing it now.

No Such Creature by Giles Blunt

About No Such Creature: A pair of thieves — one old, one young — spend the summer travelling across the American southwest, visiting unusual tourist spots and robbing Republicans.

Lighter than Blunt's Cardinal books but just as well-written with entertaining characters and a good story. Full review: No Such Creature by Giles Blunt

The Slow Fix by Ivan E. Coyote

About The Slow Fix: Collection of thirty-one short stories.

The stories are funny, touching, insightful, and the perfect length. Full review: The Slow Fix by Ivan E. Coyote

This was book #5 for the 2nd Canadian Book Challenge. I had originally intended to use Coyote's novel, Bow Grip, but I finished this review first.

Scarlet Rose by Julia Madeleine

About Scarlet Rose: Fiona's stepfather has been murdered and the cops think she did it.

Well-defined characters, a good sense of place, and a couple of surprises in the story. Full review: Scarlet Rose by Julia Madeleine

This was book #6 for the 2nd Canadian Book Challenge.

2nd Canadian Book Challenge status: 6 books read, 6 books reviewed, 7 reviews to go.
