Last night at the JLC. Courtesy of Ice's boss again.
Opening act was Marion Raven. She was good with some nice songs. It seemed kinda strange to have an acoustic set for the opener though.
Before Meat Loaf took the stage, the announcer informed us that they were filming the show for a DVD, which explained all of the extra cameras in the place. I think his part of the show was longer because of that, coming in at just under 3 hours.
Meat Loaf's show was just what I thought it would be. Big and dramatic with flames! fireworks! huge blowup dolls of the entire band! scantily clad backup singers! a wig! Yes, he wore a wig for Paradise. At times, his voice was lacking but I guess that's what happens over 30 years. He sounded better as the show went on and was able to hit those big dramatic notes most of the time.
The band was very good, as were the backup singers. I was particularly impressed with Aspen Miller who sang the lead girl parts for "Paradise" and "I'd Do Anything for Love" among others.
The tickets were over $80 each. Would I have paid that to see this show? No, but then again maybe I'm just cheap. I don't think the chick beside me, who screamed in my ear often, minded the price.
