Notes from the Genies.

Andrea Martin looked nice and did an ok job but I could have lived without Edith Prickly.

I liked the stage better than the one they had for the Oscars. Liked the multiple screens, too.

Alberta Watson let her disappointment show when she announced the winner for Best Supporting Actress.

Larysa Harapyn. I swear they gave her a speech that included the word "huge" several times just so we would all think, "yeah....huge".

The whole "studio 7c" thing completely threw me.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse looks so much better as a trailer.

Roy Dupuis really is yummy.

I was shocked that The Triplets of Belleville won Best Motion Picture. Not that it didn't deserve it (I haven't seen it yet); just that I was expecting another result.

It's kind of bizarre to watch an awards show where I can't understand over half of the acceptance speeches. On the other hand, it gave L and I a chance to practice our French translation skills. "Ok, he's saying, 'I want to thank the Academy.......... fantastic.............. thank you.' That's all I got." As L said, they used too many words and talked too fast for us poor anglophones.

The show clocked in at just under 1 hour and 40 minutes. That other Academy should take lessons.
