Notes from the Oscars.

Hated the set. Those gold panels looked ok from a distance but when a presenter was standing in front of them—in a close-up shot—they looked like cheap motel curtains.

Hated having some of the presenters in the audience and having some of the nominees on stage as their names were read. It felt awkward.

I thought Chris Rock was ok. His monologue was up and down but he had some great lines throughout the show.

In my next life, Harry Winston will be my personal jeweler. And I won't share.

Loved Hilary Swank's dress. And Salma Hayek.... wow. I'd like to look like that for just one night.

Beyonce must be a big hit with drag queens.

A BIG round of applause to Chris Landreth and Ryan. What a brilliant, stunning film.

Overall, the production felt amateurish, there were too many empty seats, and everything seemed much too subdued. Not exactly what I'm looking for when I watch the Oscars.
