Pool league party.

Ice and I went to the annual end-of-season pool league tournament and party today. At first, I wasn't going to go at all. I felt it was too soon to leave the kids in a new house in a new town. Then, I thought I'd go for just the tournament and be home before supper. But when I got to the bar, Kelly talked me into going to their house for at least some of the party. I think the words she used were “there'll be hell to pay if you don't”. She can be very persuasive.

The tournament was interesting even though many of the better players were out much too early (Ice included). At the party, I ended up at a table with some young guys, among them the tournament winner. He was very amusing as he drank everything in sight but I really felt my age when I discovered that he was born the same year and month that Ice and I met. We stayed until about 9pm and then beat a hasty retreat before we could be thrown in the pool along with almost everyone else.

The food was good, the company was good (soggy hugs and all), and we had fun. I'm glad I decided to go.
