Yes, the house again.
On Saturday, we met with the current owner of the house we're buying. He had some furniture that he didn't want and we had some questions about maintenance issues and other things. Not sure if we're getting any furniture yet (at our insistence, he's going to talk to an auctioneer first) but we had a good visit and learned a few things about the history of the house. He also said he thinks he has the original plans somewhere and he's going to see if he can find them for us.
When I first described the house here, I said that the attic was “a very cool place” so I had to laugh when he said he used to put a golf net up there in the winter and practice his swing. Cool, indeed.
In other news
I was sick for three days last week but not in a row.
We picked up a couple of PS2 games on the weekend and one of them has been keeping Ice and I busy ever since. Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance is an RPG that has a two-player co-operative mode so we've been hacking and slashing our way through it. It's an older game but new to us and it's a lot of fun.
The kids made it through another ‘Turn Off the Screens’ week. Well, L only did three of the five days because there were a couple of hockey games that she couldn't bear to miss.
I had to go over to the school today and when I was leaving I had a brief conversation with the secretary. She seemed truly disappointed to hear that the kids won't be back next year and she also gave me some words of encouragement about some of the problems J has been having. It's been so long since I've heard anything supportive that I came home and actually cried.
