I've always loved Sesame Street. Well, I've always loved the muppets on Sesame Street, especially Grover. He was just so geeky and cute.

When I was in residence at university, a friend and I snagged the TV in the lounge off the lobby one afternoon, and turned on Sesame Street. Grover was doing his ‘I go uppppp the stairs. I go dowwwwwn the stairs.’ bit and we were practically rolling on the floor laughing. Ok, maybe it doesn't sound so funny here but Chris (my friend) was imitating him and it was just... ok, yeah, you had to be there. Anyway, as I said, we were watching and laughing and apparently attracting attention. People kept coming over and they'd look at the TV and then walk away shaking their heads and rolling their eyes. “They're watching Sesame Street!! Can you believe it?!?” That made us laugh even more.

So he's always had a special place in my heart, partly for that memory but mostly for being very cool. Now however, I find out that Grover is bitter. 'Tis a sad day.

The first Wednesday of every month, the kids get Dairy Queen for lunch at school. This month, they were supposed to have it on the 5th but that turned out to be a snow day. So it was postponed to the following Wednesday (yesterday) which also turned out to be a snow day. When L came home from school today, she said that DQ day would now be next Wednesday. I said, “Ok. I'll just write ‘snow day’ on the calendar right now.”

And finally.... why would someone do this? Baked Apple
