Digital cable.

I was always under the impression that digital cable vs regular cable was an either/or thing. I don't know why; that's just how I thought it worked. But we got a thingy in the mail from our cable company today, saying that digital is now available and that it "compliments, and does not replace" our regular service. So apparently I was wrong.

But here's where I'm confused now: Ice says he thinks, if we were to get digital, our regular service would go through the receiver, too. So would it improve the quality of our regular cable? Or would it still be as crappy as always and only the new channels would look good? I'd really like to know but I don't feel like calling them and listening to a sales pitch.

We're thinking about trying out their 6 month "everything" offer. Although we're starting to think it's really sad that we give more money to the cable company in a month than we spend on gas for the van.

In other news: I got my preferred Winamp skin working with XMMS! (that's not my playlist) It really takes very little to make me happy.

Ice is not allowed to comment on that last statement.

And then you said

Well you know until today I have to admit I had never looked below 42. Can you really go wrong with a station numbered 42? Do you think that was an accident or did discovery plan that? Anyway apart from the Discovery and History channels I only watch FoxsportsWorld and TechTV.

Today I did check some other the older stations like 'god TV' (9 on rogers), the Buffy station(VR), things like that. They used to suck but now are as clear as a bell.

Not sure if the same will be true with your part of the province but I give digital a 10 ....and not just for the soccer.

Thanks for checking it out and for the rating. I don't have Rogers but I feel a bit better about spending the money now. :)
