Directed by: Stephen Sommers
Starring: Hugh Jackman, Kate Beckinsale, Richard Roxburgh, David Wenham, Shuler Hensley, Elena Anaya, Will Kemp, Kevin J. O'Connor, Alun Armstrong
Synopsis: Van Helsing must stop Dracula from using Frankenstein and his research.
Jackman's wig was certainly impressive and so was Beckinsale's corset. Van Helsing's weapons and tools were very James Bond, the story was definitely comic book, the effects were great, the stunts were big, the camera work was excellent, and it was a fast-paced thrill ride. I think the secret to this movie is to keep in mind its origins because it's very much like watching a comic book come to life. More so than other movies of its kind. The dialogue was terrible, the acting was mediocre, and I hadn't realized what girly eyes Jackman has.
If you're looking for a movie movie, you'll probably hate it. If you're looking for a live-action comic, you might enjoy it. My husband didn't care for it; I thought it was just ok.
