I really disliked the almost incessant light flashes. The artistic intent was not lost on me; it was in overkill mode. I got it with the matches, I got it with the birds, I got it with the water, I got it with the superimposed words, I got it with the erratic camera. ENOUGH already. There were several scenes of graphic violence and they were well within context, but the story moved along way too slowly (mostly due to the "artistry"). I think with a different director this movie could have been good.Added 10 October 2004 at 10:22 PM
Hated the camera work and really hated the way the subtitles were handled. Denzel did a great impression of a stick at the beginning and was remarkably cold-blooded for the second half. It was a good story but not a good movie.
