None of these women were (or are) actresses. There was a loose script but many of the stories came from the women's real lives, and many of the reactions to those stories were genuine as they often didn't know what the others were going to say. If you've ever spent any time with a group of old women (or even one), you'll recognize the genuineness of it all. They're not acting, they're bonding.
It's funny and sad and poignant and simply wonderful. See it.
