Newt's movie review

Don't ya just love Yeoman Rand?

For the first film to come out of the Star Trek dynasty, it was cinematically spectacular with its never before seen special effects and its space scenes and its musical cloud. At the time, it was awe-inspiring and sequel inspiring. Now, the effects seem rather dated and those cool new scenes are rather plodding and dull. But like any cornerstone, this is the one that everything else is based upon and you should see it just for its place in history.
