Synopsis: In Laos in 1969 there were officially no American combat forces, yet Air America was flying more than 300 flights per day, ferrying troops and cargo.
I can see why this movie would irritate veterans and American officials because of its depiction of pilots who smuggle and a war funded on drug money, but I'm told more than 100 pilots lost their lives fighting that war that didn't officially happen. It was a good story with a great soundtrack, Mel was his usally slightly crazy swaggering self, Downey Jr. was alright, and the effects were very good. Go ahead, watch it when it's on.Added 11 May 2003 at 11:04 AM
