Good movie. The main characters were seriously flawed and not all that likeable but they were interesting. Outstanding performances all around but especially by Berry. She deserved the Oscar. The only complaint I had was the camera work. At times, it was distracting, almost irritating.
It was powerful and intense but, at the same time, quiet and simple. And the ending surprised me but not in the usual way that endings surprise me. Yeah, I know. None of that makes any sense but it's a hard movie to review without any spoilers. You'll have to watch it to see what I mean.
Oh, and the sex scene was jaw-dropping.
Recommended.

A great score and amazing acting make this movie. The story is pretty good and it provides a couple of really unexpected twists (like the ending) but it's plodding Thornton and versatile Berry that give it credence.
