- The Amazing Spider-Man #1
Maguire would not have been my first choice for Peter Parker. The boy cannot move his upper lip!
The stunts were pretty big, the effects were very cool, the colours and costumes were great, the acting was alright, and the story stuck to the original fairly well. There were a couple of deviations from the comic that upset me like the web-shooters and MJ's job, but if you'd not read the comics, then it didn't really matter.
Pretty much this was just a setup for sequels. Catch it when it comes to TV cuz the commercial spaces are built right in.Added 03 November 2002 at 12:31 PM
I liked this movie. I had been complaining loudly that Maguire was wrong for the part every time I saw a commercial for it but he ended up doing better than I expected. I liked the action scenes and I liked that they got the moves right, especially that "crouch" thing he does.
I think it's definitely worth a rental and I'd even be willing to buy it. But then again, I've had a crush on Spider-Man for years.Added 12 November 2002 at 10:09 AM
