Directed by: John McTiernan
Starring: Sean Connery, Alec Baldwin, Scott Glenn, Sam Neill, James Earl Jones, Peter Firth, Tim Curry, Courtney B. Vance
Synopsis: A Russian submarine captain attempts to defect and take his submarine to the Americans.
The accents were all over the place. Connery had the look and feel that made me believe he could be a Russian submarine captain, and once I put the accent aside, the movie became better. Tim Curry was similar in the believability department, Baldwin as Jack Ryan was a stretch for me, but the sub shots were awesome. Some of the stunts were good, but watching this again after the Kursk tragedy caused me to pause and think.
Overall it's good, but twelve years has dated it, and recent events make it a little more like history that fiction. It's no Das Boot.Added 02 November 2002 at 2:07 PM
