Synopsis: A peasant passes himself off as a knight, in order to enter jousting tournaments and, perhaps, "change his stars".
I read several reviews of this movie long before I saw it and they all seemed to complain about the same thing. The music. "The songs are great but it's not right to use them in a movie set in that time period."
Lighten up, people. It's a movie. It makes no claims about historical accuracy. The wild hairstyles, the dancing, and the naked Chaucer should be enough to tell you that. It's supposed to be fun and the music is there to *gasp* set a mood. Deal with it.
Yes, I liked it. Far more than I thought I would. It's laugh out loud funny; the jousting scenes are pretty cool; most of the characters are charming. And I liked the music, too.
I'd watch it again. More than once, even.Added 15 September 2002 at 6:27 AM
Pardon? A group of people in the Middle Ages gathered round to watch a guy on a horse skewer another fella, spontaneously begin singing Queen's "We Will Rock You"? Oh yeh, that's totally in character for the time. blech. This movie was horrid. But Ripley's right: a naked Chaucer was funny.Added 21 September 2002 at 7:51 PM
