Starring: Mark Wahlberg, Jennifer Aniston, Jason Flemyng, Timothy Olyphant, Timothy Spall, Dominic West, Jason Bonham, Zakk Wylde
Synopsis: When the lead singer of a popular band is fired, the lead singer of a tribute band is chosen to replace him. Inspired by the true story of Ripper Owens, who joined Judas Priest after Rob Halford left.
We rented this movie on a night when the kids were away because I wanted something that would take full advantage of the stereo. It didn't disappoint me in that respect.
The concert scenes and the music are great. I'm not a big fan of Mark Wahlberg but he did an ok job in this one. Jennifer Aniston was better than I expected. Rent it for the music, not the acting though.Added 15 September 2002 at 4:37 AM
Wahlberg was alright, Aniston's character didn't seem to quite fit, but Beth Grant was terrific as the rocker Mom.
It really felt like this movie was trying hard to be something else, like maybe Almost Famous or This is Spinal Tap, but it's well short of either of them. It's worth noting, however, that "Stand Up and Shout" is still running through my head.Added 07 October 2003 at 8:32 PM
