Newt's movie review

I will watch just about anything with Bruce in it. I was very much looking forward to this film because of the trailers. Do I recommend this film? Not if you've seen the trailers. If you've seen The Sixth Sense, I recommend you forget this movie exists, move along, there's nothing here to see.

I didn't know this movie was done by the same director as The Sixth Sense, but 15 mins into it, the connexion was undeniable and unwanted. The VERY obvious use of specific colours to convey (presumably) the comicbook theme is, well, obvious. I didn't feel I was witnessing art so much as being held immobile and beaten with an Art Stick with someone shouting, "LOOK! It's artistic use of colour!" There is certainly something to be said for subtlety, especially if you would like me to pay attention to the film and story instead of the guy with the Art Stick. Luckily, I didn't have to pay attention at all, because the plot twist? Well, after being so severely beaten about the head with the Art Stick, the ending was rather obvious from the beginning. The film plodded along quietly like a beligerant mule.

There were some fantastic aspects to this film, but they were not enough to save it.
